At the recent East Midlands in Bloom awards ceremony, Ringwood Hall Hotel was announced as winners of a Gold Award and the Best Pub/Hotel Gardens category.
The competition covers the six counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland, and Northamptonshire. The winning citation stated " The Hotel is set in 30 acres, 6.5 acres of which are formal gardens; the whole site gives the impression of a traditional Victorian setting offering aspects of gardening which can only usually be found at National Trust locations.
The East Midlands in Bloom is the regional competition of `Britain in Bloom` and has been running for over 30 years. A Gold Award is given to exceptional achievers who have demonstrated a consistently high standard in all areas of the judging criteria and objectives of Britain in Bloom.
A spokesperson for Ringwood Hall Hotel stated that " The directors, management team and staff were thrilled with this award. We were determined when we acquired Ringwood Hall some nine years ago that we would in time restore the grounds to their former glory. We wanted our guests and customers, particularly our wedding couples, and the local community to use and enjoy our restored gardens.
Ringwood Hall Hotel are for 2008 the main sponsors of Chesterfield in Bloom, and it has been a honour and privilege to host our local awards ceremony. Winning a Gold Award in the category best Pub/Hotel Gardens in a competition embracing six counties in the East Midlands is a fantastic achievement of which we can be justifiably very proud."
